Get Your Business Online

Good morning everyone. This is Tami Green, America's Most Respected Life Coach, mother of eight. You didn't know that. I bet some of you do. And the inventor of the brilliant code, the brilliance code guys.

If that's what you're looking for, maybe you'll learn something. Today's all about taking your business online and I was going to tell you so many things that might go wrong and encourage you just to get on anyway.

But the brilliance code teaches that with every problem there's an opportunity. The bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity happens. Every time.

Problems are not there to make you suffer, they're to grow you.

And so whether it's these minor inconveniences that you're seeing right now or this huge pandemic we have going on, they're there to grow you. So we're going to talk about the opportunities that are coming from the pandemic right now cause there are some huge ones and I want to get your minds going about how you can get involved in this. First of all, our president, I think it was last night, talked about how he's extending the social distancing to April 30th possibly ‘til June.

He's had a hard time accepting it. Having come to terms with the fact that okay this is going to take a while and this is changing our lives forever. So it's okay if you are having a hard time adjusting to it. There's a skill I teach called radical acceptance. We've got every one of us to radically accept this is happening to us. We're going to be staying inside for a while. Life as we know it is different. And when it comes back, it's also going to change forever. Yes. A lot of the things that comfort us, things that we can't have right now, we're going to have back, but everything's going to change for good. My episode yesterday, I talked about likening what's happening now historically to the Renaissance and I've been saying for two to three years now that what's now is a Renaissance bigger than what's ever happened in mankind. And you know what? The Renaissance started before the black plague and then the black plague really pushed it over. So in yesterday's episode, go back and look at it on YouTube or Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn, whatever platform you prefer, and look and see what I said and how this applies to you and we're going to talk more about that this week now.

I've talked about radically accepting what's going on. I know that's hard. Radical acceptance is just like turning the mind every day when you think, “Oh no, this isn't happening”. Yes, it's happening. I'm going to give you some ideas today. Once you accept what's really going on. And guys, it's taken me a while, even with my skills to accept what's going on, but we're going to talk about taking your business online today and some really cool things are happening out there and I'm going to give you some other people's ideas and I want you to take them and make them your own.

One idea my daughter had, well, she told me a story of two friends of hers that bartered. One was a caterer, one was a hairdresser. The caterer said, I'll bring you chicken soup and a bunch of bread pudding, which I would go for whatever I have to do, I'd do it. And the hairdresser sends her the supplies and did a zoom live with her client while she was coloring her hair.

There's a lot more ideas I have. One thing I'm seeing is bars are taking karaoke night in live events online. We're going to talk about how to do this too. Today. Get your notebooks. This is really important. We are hungry for community. We're hungry for the local community. We're local for a new community and we're especially hungry for the old community. So think about if you have local community service, if your yoga studio and you have a couple of classes where you have regulars every time, get them on a zoom meeting. We're going to talk about other ways to get them on. These are just ideas. What else do I have for you? Oh, how about this? In Houston, we have shelter in a place like a lot of other cities out there, but you can have 10 people gather outside if you're six feet apart.

How about a gardening class? How about invite your next-door neighbor over and sit on your patio six feet apart with mass sun and cover your bodies with hand sanitizer? I don't know.

Do something. If you have seeds and your neighbor doesn't have seeds for their garden share. We're all bartering. We're all sharing. If you're starting something online and I'm going to show you how I give you some ideas. If you're starting something online, don't think about charging right now. Now is not the time to make money. Now is the time to build customer and brand loyalty. And I know you want to make money right now. I know you want to make money right now, but now's the time to share.

Give things away for free. Share your skills and share your resources, which I talked a lot about on Saturday. So I gave you a few ideas. Now I'm going to dive into how to do it. I was a pioneer in taking mental health support services online in 2004 y'all before any therapist was doing it. I'm like, how are we going to get help to these people? We're going to go online. Well, I'm a little bit of a techie so it's easier for me, right? But the skills I know now, I didn't have back then. So what I'm going to tell you is you start with one platform, YouTube. We're going to talk about brick and mortar companies in a minute too, but to get your idea or your help online, you can one, do live broadcast via Zoom, Crowdcast, Google Hangouts or Skype. I'm using Skype personally and Zoom a lot right now.

Or you can go live on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter. It's called Periscope on Twitter. Of course, Facebook life tips. If you go live, you'll get more views because all of these CloudForms have algorithms and they have things they favor so they'll post you out to more people if you go live. The thing about that and social media I want to tell you is you think about it especially like YouTube, but any platform except for Facebook, people will find you through searching a keyword. So you want to use hashtags and you want to use keywords that people would think of when they're trying to find you.

If you have a video that has a lot of people that like it or comment on it, I want you to think about boosting it. You can spend like 5 or $10 and boost it on those platforms. It's a little bit of a learning curve. So I want you to think of this time is practice and serving, practice and serving. Start with the people that you know, invite them to something, give them something right now and worry about all the techie stuff later. I'm giving you an idea. Start live or in a group or with Zoom. You guys figure out which is easiest for you. I mean think just intuitively right now, which one's easier for you? Just do that one.

Now I'm going to tell you some things that happen live. Some examples I have because I want you to know it's just practice. I went live with these daily broadcasts eight days ago. Every day I get better. Although I think I took a step back today with the lighting, and the hackers attacking my multi-streaming, things are going to happen with technology. Make a checklist. This is the one thing. Have water.

Things are going to happen. One time I was doing an interview for a podcast. My cat jumped on my desk, knocked a glass of water on my laptop and killed it, and I think I borrowed my son's computer and got back on it. I was a little shook up, but that's what happens. So let's talk about what's gone wrong today and you're gonna think this is funny, but let's be authentic.

Number one: If you've been watching, you're listening to me. You know that I haven't had? Mascara. I haven't had a lot of things like my regular lighting. I haven't got a green screen. All kinds of things. Thank goodness I have my microphone, which we'll talk about in a minute as something you want to invest in. I haven't had my mascara. I found my eyeliner, but I went and got mascara at Walmart yesterday. I didn't have time to put it on. My dress is wrinkled. You can't see it. Here's another thing for you ladies out there. You ever like miss one piece of your hair like with a curling iron? There it is, but you wouldn't have noticed if I wouldn't have pointed it out to you. So you're going to be on camera and you're going to be thinking about all these things that people aren't going to even notice. Start small practice and serve, practice and serve. You need a computer or a phone to get on social media to go live, Zoom, Google Hangouts, whatever you choose. And we're going to put all this information in the show notes with links, okay? You don't have to have expensive equipment.

I would recommend one thing if you could, and that's a microphone and there are ones that can plug into your iPhone. And this one, if you have a laptop, especially if you're going to make a podcast, you have to have good audio. It's a blue Yeti. I've pulled podcasters and this is the number one everyone uses cause it's $100 and you can get it on Amazon. But guys, don't wait. I started without a microphone. Get your camera out and go on your iPhone. I've given you a few ideas. Now I'm wanting to talk about brick and mortar companies. What you guys can do right now. I talked about like things like the yoga class, take it outside, right? Some other things you can do, like a yoga class, for example, do it online with your group. Now if you have a brick and mortar company that shuts down, I want to get you thinking about ideas and the, I teach getting into higher thinking.

I teach all the time getting into a place of inspiration where ideas come and you just want to act on your ideas. Because if you get into that place, you kind of wipe away what's in your mind. And then you can think about what's really the truth of what's happening. Just like I'm telling you what the truth is of what's happening is because I practice getting into higher thinking. There are lots of practices I teach. I'm gonna teach a lot more this week on how to get there. But if you have a piece of inspiration, act on it. It's not a bad idea. And a lot of us who are more intuitive, we act on ideas not knowing where they're going to lead. Just act on it because a lot of people don't know where this is going. But your idea could lead to the next big thing for where our country in our world is going right now.

Back to brick and mortar. If you've got a brick and mortar business that doesn't have online, I suggest as something you might try is building an online store to sell what you have. Think about it. It's something you may have always wanted to do. Now's the time. Shopify is a good way to do it. Amazon and eBay, you can all have stores on there and sell your things. Now, if it's more boutiquey, some of this isn't going to apply, but I'm telling you out there, there's a lot of competition online for services and goods for a lower price. So if you are more specialized, you're not going to worry about that as much. What you're going to do is you're going to really use that email list. You've built your social media, your Facebook page or whatever, and you're going to start advertising it.

I know people that sell stuff on their Facebook page. They sell stuff on their Facebook page. Just post a picture of it on your Facebook page, try and auction on your Facebook page. These are all ideas to do things or post on your Facebook page that you're going to give something to someone. Today is the day to build brand loyalty, to build your reputation, not to make money. If you can think about the next 30-60 days as the hugest marketing campaign you've ever done in your life, when you come out of this, you're going to be one of the stronger companies.

Serve, serve, serve, serve, serve.

One other thing I want to give you as a resource if you don't know it yet, Canva.com. If you haven't tried Canva yet, you can do all your design work on Canva. They have templates for everything on there and there's a free version. So Canva and another thing I want to offer you right now is if you go to my website, TamiGreen.com. If you haven't got it yet, I have a free ebook on there called 30 Days of Self Discovery, so I want you to get that. It's just a little thought each day that makes you think about your true self and your true gifts and what you prefer. This book will spur you on to ideas.

If you're having a hard time with this, distract yourself. If you are having a hard time accepting it, radical acceptance, okay? We're practicing. We're not doing it perfectly. I showed up today and everything's a mess, right?

I love you guys. I'm going to go now so I can get this out on everything else. Email us team@tamigreen.com. We would love to hear your ideas about what you guys are doing and post on social media.
